State Champs! Valley Wins Class 5A State Girls' Basketball Title






















State. Champions.

The Valley High School varsity girls' basketball team beat Southeast Polk 65-60 in the title game of the Class 5A Iowa high school state tournament on Friday, March 1, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

This is the Tigers' second state title in three years; Valley's last championship was in 2017. This is the second state tournament title in program history.

A reception celebrating Valley's win will take place at Valley Fieldhouse around 9:15 p.m. Friday.

In Friday's win, Senior Zoe Young paced the Tigers with 23 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and four blocks.  Fellow senior standout Shea Fuller recorded 22 points. Juniors Alex Honnold and Grace Plummer each contributed nine points.
